Who are we
We, Bram, David, Hans and Peter, have different backgrounds, expertise and life paths. However, what brings us together is the desire to make a difference for people in developing countries. Making a difference for the individual, making an impact in communities and at the same time strengthening the local economy. Oxano Capital was created from this wish.
I think I can best describe myself as an entrepreneur. It gives me energy to assist companies and entrepreneurs. To help others one step further with what I have learned and received in my life.
The first 25 years I was director and owner of several companies. The last 8 years I have switched to a role as an investor. Since that time also became active as director and later advisor for family businesses and business transfers.
In recent years became involved in all kinds of investments abroad especially in Africa. Always looked at how to achieve sustainable impact with a donation, loan or capital. Investments create better opportunities for a company and the impact it has on the environment and its employees is sustainable. In Africa involved in corporate initiatives in Ghana, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Kenya.
Married to Karin, we have been entrusted with the care of five children.
For about 20 years I have been an entrepreneur and involved in various initiatives in developing countries. For example, we set up a business school together in Ethiopia and further, numerous companies were started in different countries in Africa and Asia. The common denominator is always the search for impact for our fellow man. I am a great believer in aid by trade. That creates (equal) dignity and contributes in the long term to the welfare and prosperity of all concerned.
With our whole family we are involved with people in developing countries. I am married to Lydia and we are allowed to take care of 5 children. Together we are always looking for opportunities to make the world a little more beautiful.
After 20 years of doing business in the US, I moved to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in August 2020 with my wife and four children. We were excited to begin a new chapter, focused on investing in companies that would not only impact individuals by creating jobs, but also create long-term impact in the communities the companies serve. I had the privilege of starting a new manufacturing company in Addis Ababa in March 2021, which manufactures and distributes household water filters. The team is mostly Ethiopians, including at-risk women and deaf people who normally find it very difficult to find good jobs. We are already seeing the positive impact and influence this company is making here in Addis. Now working with Oxano Capital, I am excited to partner with others who want to make "life changing investments"!
I am married to Alita and am the father of 3 daughters and a son.
As a family, we gained a passion for Ethiopia as we lived and worked there for almost 10 years (2010 - 2019). I have been director of a manufacturing company there which has impact as its goal and sees profit as its means. A great example of how aid and trade can go hand in hand!
I get to use this experience on several fronts. Since the summer of 2023, we are again living in Ethiopia to continue it from there. My passion is to promote business activities in Africa to make a difference for individuals, community and local economy. And Oxano Capital is a wonderful vehicle for this!
